Our Story

Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church is a community of faith rooted in the love of God. We believe worship is not just found in prayer, it’s something expressed in everything we do.
Shiloh was founded in 1902 by Reverend Douglas and was located on Summer Street which is now Fifth Avenue.  In 1919 Shiloh was rebuilt under the pastorate of Reverend C.C. Roland on Rollin Mill Hill.  Reverend T.H. Easley pastored from 1926 to 1929 and Reverend J.T. Thompson pastored from 1930 to 1939. Reverend C.C. Roland was later recalled to serve as pastor until 1945.
In the midst of a depression and challenging times Reverend Phillip Douglas Collier was called to pastor and he served the Shiloh family from 1946 to 1972.  Under Pastor Collier Shiloh purchased property and moved to its current location in 1949.
Reverend James A. Mitchell served as pastor from 1972 to 1980.  Pastor Mitchell remodeled the church and left Shiloh debt free.
Reverend Elton Lee Waller served as pastor faithfully from 1981 to 2017.  Pastor Waller purchased 7 properties under his leadership and also left Shiloh Debt Free.  Because of his faithfulness and contributions to the community of faith, 2nd Avenue has been Honorary Renamed Rev. Elton Lee Waller Blvd.
In the absence of a pastor and in the midst of a pandemic Reverend Garland Kimbro has faithfully served the Shiloh family.
In November 2022, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church elected Rev. David Scruggs Jr to be their pastor.
This only captures a glimpse of our past, but we pray that you come and join us to be apart of our present and future. There’s a special place for you at Shiloh.
